Stormy North Sea
A few weeks ago, the North East coast put on one of its most dramatic performances as stormy weather rolled in and the North Sea showed its full power. Along the shoreline the wind drove heavy swells toward the coast turning familiar landmarks into scenes of raw restless beauty.

At Tynemouth Lighthouse, sunset brought an especially striking contrast. As the sky softened into warm evening colours, huge waves surged in from the darkening sea crashing over the pier and sending plumes of spray high into the air. The lighthouse stood firm against the onslaught and I was able to capture some stunning images.
By Sunday morning the mood had shifted further north at Blyth. While the sea remained wild, it had become a playground for surfers eager to make the most of the powerful conditions. Against a backdrop of grey skies and rolling waves, they paddled out and rode the swells with clear enjoyment, turning the aftermath of the storm into something exhilarating.
